Hey Vikings Fans,

While at work I’ve been searching all over for Jared Allen updates like most blogger/reporters.  Over on the Purple Thoughts forum at VU, a guy claiming to be a close friend of JA, and after the grilling he got and information passed obviously is.  He has passed that, “We’ll see what happens very shortly I think….(I’m thinking tomorrow morning [Saturday] possibly…. )  I can say (with confidence) the financial terms are agreed on and all that is standing in the way is that idiot Carl Peterson….stay tuned folks!”

Then, “I can’t really go into specifics due to respect of Jared and his family.  I will say that this deal is VERY close to being done.  Financially there is an agreement.  As for what it’s gonna take? Simple, Carl needs to quit being Carl and pull the trigger.  The deal is there for the taking.  It’s as good as it’s gonna get since neither TB or Jax have picks higher than MN’s.  So, YES I think it will be done and probably announced around noon tomorrow-assuming CP doesn’t blow it….which to me is a BIG IF….
So that said, I’m cautiously optimistic….and very excited for a great oppurtunity for Jared!”

Like yesterday, I probably won’t sleep worth a darn in anticipation.  I hope I will wake to great news.  With the next three days off after this shift, I hope to spend some quality time writing about it.

I fully agree with Gonzo when he posted yesterday:

“Seriously, folks. . .bringing Jared Allen in would give us the best defensive line this team has seen since the days of Doleman-Millard-Thomas-Noga.  That line was part of a defense that put up 71 sacks in 1989.  The parallels are there, too. . .Allen fits nicely into the Doleman mold, and might even be a little better in run defense.  The Irresistable Force (Kevin Williams, if you’ve forgotten) is Keith Millard without the “my arms are bigger than your guns” level of crazy.  The Immovable Object slots into the Henry Thomas spot, and. . .well, some combination of Ray Edwards, Brian Robison, and Erasmus James (for the five minutes he’s healthy) can play the role of Al Noga.”
