Former NFL coach Bill Parcells has agreed to a four-year deal proposed by owner Wayne Huizenga of the Miami Dolphins to make him the team's head of football operations.

From Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk has come this post:

FINS SNARE TUNA

IIt's official.  Veteran coach Bill Parcells has joined the Miami Dolphins on the same day that he handed Falcons owner Arthur Blank the latest setback in arguably the worst month that any NFL franchise has ever experienced.

Parcells has inked a four-year deal, and regardless of his title he'll be in charge of the football operations.

The futures of G.M. Randy Mueller and coach Cam Cameron are currently unknown.  Our guess is that both will be fired, and that Parcells will hire his own G.M., and Parcells and his G.M. will hire their own coach.

It also remains to be seen whether the arrival of Parcells gives the team a late-season foot in the fanny.  With a chance to derail the Pats' perfect season only days away, a rejuvenated locker room could surprise one of the various teams for whom Parcells previously worked.

'We're going to have a new daddy,'' offensive tackle L.J. Shelton said.

So the Big Tuna is "retiring" to south Florida. Isn't that what all those northeast corridor types do anyways? I wonder how a strict taskmaster like Parcells will do in a CEO type position where big picture leadership is needed over micromanagement of the minutia?

What do you guys think?

And do think he is going to clean house in the way of GM, coach, staff, etc?

He's a good evaluator of talent, but like Joe Gibbs I think the inability to control players like he could in the 80's affected his ability to coach and motivate them.

He'll be a good VP of football operations, because he'll hire smart guys to help evaluate talent and get the Dolphins back to contender status. I wonder if he'll keep Cam Cameron or get a "Parcells Guy" to coach.

And with Vick, the players supporting Vick on the field and getting fined, Bobby Petrino bolting to Arkansas, and now Parcells spurning them, do the Falcons have any fans left?

I really feel for Arthur Blank...until he goes home to his uberhouse, with his uberhot wife, and all the zeros to the left of the decimal point in his bank account.
